Visiting planetary systems with exo3d
Subject :
Exoplanetary systems are extremely diverse. The exo3d tool allows users to explore this diversity, appreciate the uniqueness of the solar system, and visualize the relative sizes of planets and stars, as well as the distances between them.
Level : All levels. Part of the activity does not involve math.
Duration : 1 hour
Objectives :
- Visualize exoplanetary systems and compare them to the Solar System
- Understand scales of size and distance
- Understand the diversity of exoplanetary systems
- Visualize the positions of planets relative to habitable zones.
Prerequisites:
- Units of distance
- Planetary orbits
- Celsius (°C) and Kelvin (K) temperatures.
Required equipment :
- Accessing the website Exoplanet Education Portal on a computer
- To use exo3d in augmented reality, you’ll need an Android smartphone or tablet
Subject, Annexes and correction :
- Student worksheet and Teacher notes in the format of EXO4EDU project->https://exo4edu.eu/]
