The computed parameters

The catalog parameters come from scientific articles, except the parameters described below :

  • Planet density :
If the mass M* of the planet and its radius R* are known, the density can be computed :

    $$ρ=\frac{M}{V}$$

, where V is the volume

    $$V=\frac{4}{3}πR^{3}$$

  • Equilibrium temperature of the planet :
If the radius R* of the star and its temperature T* are known, and the semi-major of the planet orbit a , the equilibrium temperature Tequ of the planet can be computed

    $$T_{equ}=T_{*}(\frac{R_{*}}{2a})^{0.5}(1-A)^{0.25}$$

A is the planet albedo ? , that is to say its reflective power. By default, a value of 0.3 (Earth’s albedo ? ) is chosen.
  • Semi-major axis ? and period :
If the star mass M* and the planet period P are known, the semi-major axis ? a of the planet orbit is computed from the 3e Kepler law.

Conversely, if the mass of the star and the semi-major axis ? of the planet’s orbit are known, the period of revolution of the planet is calculated with this same formula:

$$\frac{a^{3}}{P^2}=\frac{GM_{*}} {4\pi^{2}}$$

where G is the constant of gravitation

$$ G=6,6743*10^{-11} \frac{ m^{3}}{kg \cdot s^{2} } $$
